Sectors :
Pharma/BiopharmaRelated activities and services

Field of Research:
Biological sciences
Medical and health sciences
Statistics
Health research areas:
Cardiovascular diseases

Skills:
The centre has high expertise in pharmacology, epidemiological, statistical, biochemistry, pre-clinical research and translational clinical research, with particular reference to biochemical, pre-clinical and clinical studies in the field of cardiology and pharmacovigilance activities and processes.

Products/Services

  • "The center provides research services on behalf of third parties, carrying out projects on issues of high clinical relevance in the field of cardiology such as genetically determined and acquired cardiomyopathies, cardiac remodeling and arrhythmogenesis. In particular, the pharmacological modulation of electrical activity and excite-contractile coupling of cellular/cardiac tissue preparations under physiological or pathological conditions is studied. In the pharmacovigilance sector, the centre's activities are an integral part of regional pharmacovigilance activities, which include responding to suspected adverse drug reaction (ADR) reports, gathering and epidemiological analysis of ADR reports, pre- and post-university pharmacovigilance training, pharmacoepidemiological analysis of existing databases, and surveillance activities on non-conventional medicines. The centre also provides support and consultancy for the performance of non-profit studies, in particular by monitoring and managing pharmacovigilance aspects. Finally, the centre promotes pre-clinical and clinical research activities in the field of phytotherapy and phytovigilance."
Instruments

INSTRUMENTS

  • Description: "- The center is equipped with specific equipment for electrophysiological recording in patch-clamp on a single cell and on intact muscle tissue. - It also has advanced epifluorescence microscopy systems used for dynamic image analysis of intracellular calcium. - There are complete equipment for molecular biology methods (cell transfection, RNA and DNA extraction, RT-PCR, Western blotting, Immunofluorescence) and for obtaining and maintaining cell cultures (laminar flow hoods, inverted microscopes, humidified incubators with automatic control of O2 and CO2, refrigerated centrifuge, containers for cryopreservation of cells and tissues in liquid nitrogen, freezer at -80C)."
