Overview: 

The Interdepartmental Centre for Health Promotion and Information Technology (ProSIT) was established in 2017 with the main aim of promoting innovation in public health, through the extensive use of new information and communication technologies. The Centre, which is currently based in the Department of Biology, is also joined by the Departments of Translational Research and New Technologies in Medicine and Surgery, Computer Science, Information Engineering and Civilisations and Forms of Knowledge and has the general objective of designing, implementing, evaluating and promoting innovative methods and systems to address old and new challenges for health protection.
The Centre's activities are divided into research and teaching activities and are integrated with those carried out by the Departments and their professors.
For example: applications of data mining for big data, explainable artificial intelligence, federated learning, data stream mining, sentiment analysis and opinion mining, genetic fuzzy systems, fuzzy clustering algorithms, etc. to the study of bio-indicators of exposure or susceptibility, to the development of models of environmental health risk analysis, to epidemiology, to cybersecurity and privacy, to bionformatics and chemo-informatics, to personalised medicine, to Ambient Assisted Living, to Human Activity Recognition.
